There is an inherent acceptance - it seems, at least - in these cooperative groups that the individual benefit is enhanced by the well being of the group as a whole. Our developed 'intelligence' has promoted the individual above the group, particularly in modern Society, and certainly since the twentieth century has created this dualistic view of the two. The task is bring the circle of thought round again to a fusion of the individual and society recognising that both not only can coexist but really need each other to survive and thrive.
